Ledyard Seniors Celebrate Arrival of New Van

A press release from the Town of Ledyard:

On December 18, Ledyard Seniors had more to celebrate than Christmas with Santa. Their new van was commemorated with a ribbon cutting ceremony that included Mayor Rodolico, Town Council Chairman Linda Davis, Town Councilor Mike France, Senior Commission Chairman Bob Schempf and Center Director Lauren Rapp.

“We’re thrilled to have this new handicapped accessible van as an addition to our fleet,” said Rapp, “We received a $40K grant from the state and the Town of Ledyard paid the balance.  We’re excited! This new addition means more folks have access to the Center, which is an amazing fun-filled place.”

The Ledyard Senior Center offers daily transportation during the week for activities such as craft and exercise classes and lunch, along with rides to medical appointments and other necessities.

The telephone number of the Center is on the new bus, and Rapp hopes that folks take notice.  There are many programs, classes, speakers and activities offered for residents age 60+ and the disabled at the Senior Center. The new van is ready to take you there.
