Obituary: Donald Levi Grundy, 99, Formerly Of Ledyard

He was a devoted man of God and enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking for his family at his home.

Donald Levi Grundy, 99, St. Augustine, formerly a long time resident of Ledyard, Connecticut, passed away February 15, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL, with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Phyllis Mary Grundy, who died in 2004.

He was born in Ledyard, CT, son of the late Harold and Betsy Crouch Grundy. He was a retired contractor and carpenter and he also used his talent to create toy puzzles for many years. He was a devoted man of God and enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking for his family at his home.

He is survived by his children, Constance Grundy Anderson, Jacksonville, FL, Donald S. Grundy, David Grundy Sr., Beverly Grundy Worth, all of St. Augustine, FL; sisters, Margaret Pearl Rockefeller, Leesburg, FL and Lila Wilmot, Stafford Springs, CT; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Elwin, Mary, Harold, Bettina, and Thomas.

His family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, February 23, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Dinoto Funeral Home (17 Pearl Street, Mystic) with a funeral immediately following at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will conclude with burial in Ledyard Union Cemetery (Colonel Ledyard Highway, Ledyard).
