Police Officer Hit By Evading Car: Ledyard Police
The officer was initially hospitalized and police are asking for help in locating the suspect's car.

LEDYARD, CT — Ledyard police are investigating after an officer was struck by a car which left the scene, police said.
At 2:20 a.m. Saturday, a Ledyard police officer was conducting a motor vehicle stop on Route 2 in just west of Watson Road. There were four travel lanes in this section of Route 2, two westbound and two eastbound.
The Ledyard officer had just arrested a driver for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, police said. The officer was speaking with the occupants of the accused’s vehicle when a grey or dark-colored, four-door sedan struck the Ledyard officer with the passenger side mirror of their vehicle and continued without stopping, police said.

The Ledyard officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Backus Hospital in Norwich, police said.
The Ledyard Police Department is looking for assistance to locate and identify the evading operator/vehicle involved, police said.
