Police: Wrong Way Driver Arrested For DUI

LEDYARD, CT — Monday police saw a car driven by a 63-year-old man traveling the wrong way on a state road, stop short when he realized the potentially tragic driving error, and try to turn around.

Ledyard Police pulled over Randolph J. Churchill Sr. of Gales Ferry and, they said, determined he was driving drunk.

In a press release, police said Churchill was "traveling south in the northbound lane on Route 12 in the area of Christy Hill Road. The vehicle continued in the wrong lane southbound before abruptly
correcting in the area of Kings Highway."

Due in court Jan. 16, 2020, Churchill, of 981 Long Cove Road, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right.
