MADISON, CT — In a two-week period, some 450 first-shot vaccines were given to eligible schools staff members, from bus drivers to teachers, Madison schools Superintendent Dr. Craig Cooke said. The second and final shot is set for April 9. On that day, kids will do remote learning.

Cooke thanked Madison's health and human resources directors for their assistance in ensuring school staffer got the vaccine.

"While some of our vaccination days fall right before a weekend or holiday, others do not," he wrote in a message to families. "For this reason, Friday, April 9 will be a remote learning day as a large number of staff are slated to receive their second shots on April 8. More information on the April 9 schedule will be made available as we get closer to the day. We expect that April 9th will have both synchronous and asynchronous activities for students."
