Animals Killed During Utility Upgrade at Madison's Hammonasset Beach State Park: Report

A generator failed at the Meigs Point Nature Center.

MADISON, CT — Several fish and frogs were killed recently at the Meigs Point Nature Center at Hammonasset Beach State Park when power was temporarily cut to the facility and a generator failed, reports the New Haven Register.

Natural gas and other utilities are being installed at the park, which required the power to be cut.

Temporary tanks and shelter were established for the animals at another location at the park, but a generator failed and several animals perished, according to officials.
