Becker Named As Hand Football Head Coach: Report
Erik Becker is a longtime football coach and educator who'll take over the head coaching reins for Hand football, according to a report.
MADISON, CT — Longtime coach Erik Becker was named Daniel Hand High School football head coach, GameTime CT reported Monday.
According to Becker's LinkedIn profile, the Hand graduate was the Hand freshan football coach from 2004 to 2009, and was the team's offensive coordinator from 2010 until 2015, where, he wrote, the team "56 games including two Class L State Championships, number one in the state averaging more than 30 points per game."
After leaving Hand, he was quarterback coach and pass game coordinator for Choate Rosemary Hall football, his bio reads. He then became head coach for Coginchaug Hale-Ray East Hampton Football in 2017. Following that post, he went on to coach the Haddam-Killingworth High School team, according to his profile.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, he earned a masters degree at Eastern Connecticut State and earned his sixth-year teaching certification at Southern Connecticut State in 2015.
Becker taught in Westbrook schools from 2011 to 2020. He's now teaching at Hand.

Becker is taking the coaching reins from Steve Filippone, who was asked to cover after head coach Dave Mastroianni resigned last winter.
Becker has also been a peer counselor for Madison Youth & Family Services, was director of the Bushy Hill Nature Center, is a certified nutritionist and member of Mensa, his LinkedIn profile shows.
