Madison Beach Hotel Unveils its Summer Concert Line-Up
It's a free event which beguns in June and runs through the end of August.

MADISON, CT – The Madison Beach Hotel is pleased to announce its summer line-up for the 5th Annual Grassy Strip Music & Art Series.
Hosted each Wednesday evening June 29th until August 31st from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., the 2016 free concerts will showcase an array of American artists, including American musician, singer and songwriter Marshall Crenshaw, United States Coast Guard Dixieland Band, Glenn Miller Orchestra, and John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. With her trademark mile-high platinum beehive hairdo and enviable collection of sequins and rhinestones, Christine Ohlman will return again this year on August 24 for another unforgettable performance with her band, Rebel Montez. Also returning is English Pop hit-maker, The Fixx to close out the Summer.
“Our hotel is honored and excited to have The US Coast Guard Dixieland Band perform at our July 13th concert,” said Madison Beach Hotel General Manager, John Mathers. The United States Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band has entertained audiences across America and is the premier band representing the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security.

“Bringing back the Glenn Miller Orchestra, John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band and The Fixx is also a unique treat for our town and shoreline neighbors who have lobbied hard for their return,” continued Mathers.
Initiated in the Summer of 2012, the Grassy Strip Music & Art Series is a complimentary family event hosted by the Madison Beach Hotel one night each week during the Summer season. “We are so blessed to be part of a community where civic responsibility and family values are a strong part of our culture. This event is one way we choose to celebrate that,” continued Mathers.

In addition to this summer of music and fun the Madison Beach Hotel is launching the West Wharf Community Alliance, whose mission is to preserve the beauty of the West Wharf area of Madison and insure its future prosperity. The Madison Beach Hotel and owners, Ric and Dawn Duques will match dollar for dollar up to $5,000 contributions to the “West Wharf Sand Pail”, which will be passed out at each event. Monies collected will be given toward a variety of different local charities and initiatives.
“Each Thursday morning this summer, members of our hotel team, our neighbors, friends and municipal volunteers will meet to comb the beaches and streets of our neighborhoods from the Surf Club to the Beach Club in search of trash, glass, and cigarette butts. If it’s there, we’ll find it,” exclaimed Mathers. “Our West Wharf Community Alliance is just a fun way of engaging our neighbors and friends at giving back to our remarkable community."
The Grassy Strip Music & Art Series starts on June 29th and will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday until August 31st. All concerts will take place on the front lawn of the Madison Beach Hotel located at 94 West Wharf Rd., Madison, CT. The rain location for this event is in the ballroom at the Madison Beach Hotel.
