Madison Coronavirus Update: 54 Cases, 4 Deaths

Madison has seen 54 residents infected by the new coronavirus and four dead. Here's the First Selectwoman's message.

MADISON, CT — Madison has 54 residents infected with the new coronavirus, according to statistics released by the town on Wednesday. Four people have died of the virus.

In total, 30 of the cases are women and 24 are men.

Madison First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons said in the media release that Connecticut's health department forecasted the peak to be later in May, with a dire need for increased testing and contact tracing.

Lyons cited Gov. Lamont as saying the state is seeking partnerships with organizations to boost the state's testing capabilities in order to hopefully sooner reopen the state's economy.

Lyons reminded the public that masks are now required in public spaces where social distancing is impossible. This, and staying home whenever possible, are the best ways to reduce the spread of the virus.
