The Madison Foundation, a community organization that supports local nonprofits, is encouraging residents to nominate a “Hero Volunteer” as part of its twenty-fifth anniversary celebration. The winning volunteer will receive a $2500 check in recognition of their efforts to make the community a better place. Since its founding in June 1996, the Foundation has given away in excess of $1 million in support of the town’s social, cultural, environmental, educational, and recreational needs.

“Volunteers perform many essential functions at local nonprofits and make immeasurable contributions to our community,” said Foundation Board President Peter Roos. “We hope to raise awareness of the vital roles performed by selfless volunteers and encourage others to give their time to the nonprofits they support,” he continued.

Twenty-five years ago, the five founding families of The Madison Foundation gave generously of their time and money with the goal of creating a permanent source of funding for Madison’s charitable efforts. Today, the Foundation manages over $1.8 million spread across forty-eight endowed funds. It fulfills its mission of making Madison a better place for all residents by connecting donors who care with causes that matter.

The Madison Foundation will announce a “Hero Volunteer” from those nominated following its monthly meeting in November. A $2500 donation will be made to a local charity chosen by the winner. To nominate someone you feel is a volunteer hero, visit the Foundation’s website at www.themadisonfoudnation.org and fill out the information. Tell us how your hero’s skill, time, and energy is making a positive impact in your organization and on our community. Nominations must be received by October 30, 2021.
