The walkway's decking is more than 20 years old.

MADISON, CT — Town officials are not awaiting approval from the state Department of Transportation to move forward on the Tuxis Walkway project, instead they are beginning the design phase for the pedestrian boardwalk renovation, reports the Madison Source.

Last summer, Madison received a $400,000 grant to repair the walkway, which will include an upgraded entrances. The walkway rests between Bradely Road and Boston Post Road.

The walkway's decking is more than 20 years old - built in 1995, according to officials - so much of it needs replacing in addition to other improvements.
