Madison Scholar/Athletes Feted At Football Dinner Over Weekend

Hand High School was also awarded a championship plaque for winning their second consecutive Class L title last fall with a 13-0 record.​

MADISON, CT - Scholar athletes from Daniel Hand High School and Xavier High School - both Madison residents - were honored at the Casey-O'Brien New Haven County Chapter of the National Football Foundatio 59th Annual Scholar Athlete Awards dinner on Friday March 29 at Fantasia in North Haven before an audience of 300.

Hand's Kevin Girardi was one of the recipients from Madison; Sam Norris was Madison resident who attends Xavier.

Hand High School was also awarded a championship plaque for winning their second consecutive Class L title last fall with a 13-0 record.

Twenty-nine scholar athletes were recognized for playing football and their excellence in the classroom and in the community.

In addition other award winners included State Senator Len Fasano representing the 34th Senate District who received the Distinguished American Award, Al Carbone Commissioner of the twenty-three teams in the Southern Connecticut Conference winner of the Chapter Award of Merit, Sheehan's John Ferazzi who won the chapter Coach of the Year Award and long time football official Scott Kelly who was awarded the Officials Recognition Award.
