Memorial Day Weekend In Madison: What You Need To Know

It may not resemble the Memorial Day Weekends of our memories, but we'll celebrate nonetheless, even if in our hearts, and our backyards.

MADISON, CT — It's officially official. Summer will begin this weekend. Maybe not by the calendar, but the season we all love is upon us. And more importantly, it's the weekend that we observe, and honor, the great sacrifice of those who have given their lives for our freedoms: Memorial Day Weekend.

So without further ado, thanks to the town and the Madison Chamber of Commerce for providing the information to compile a list of Memorial Day happenings in Madison. Yes, it won't resemble any Memorial Day in a century (first celebrated by freed slaves and originally called Decoration Day), but we'll celebrate nonetheless, even if only in our own backyards.

Memorial Day Livestream Ceremony
Madison's American Legion and VFW will not hold a Memorial Day Parade this year, but there will be a remote Memorial Day Ceremony that commemorates those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. A small number of officials, led by Griswold Post 79 Commander, Donna Farrell, and VFW 2096 Commander, Larry Brundrett will honor our fallen heroes. Residents are welcomed and encouraged to watch the ceremony from home on Monday, May 25 at 10 a.m. on this YouTube Livestream
