'Multiple' DHHS Athletic Teams In Quarantine: Superintendent

Schools superintendent Dr. Craig Cooke said three new COVID-19 cases at the high school forced a number of teams into quarantine.

MADISON, CT — With three new COVID-19 cases reported at Daniel Hand High School, and as a result of contact tracing, multiple athletic teams have been quarantined, schools Superintendent Dr. Craig A. Cooke said in a message to families.

It is not clear which teams have been placed into quarantine.

There's also a new case at Brown Intermediate School, he said.

All of the people who have tested positive have been told to stay home and all their close contacts have been instructed to quarantine. And he said that all students and staff "directly impacted by this temporary shift to remote learning have already been contacted by a school administrator."

As of Thursday afternoon, the district has 9 active COVID-19 student cases and 7 active staff member cases.

"Through investigation and consultation with the affected individual, the District Administration and Department of Public Health feel confident both Brown Intermediate School and Daniel Hand High School can remain open," Cooke said.
