Obituary: Charles Robert Vargo, 94, of Madison, formerly Milford
Vargo, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific, worked for Sikorsky Aircraft after 40 years.

Charles Robert Vargo, longtime resident of Milford for over 50 years and more recently of Madison passed away on May 21, 2021 at The Hearth at Tuxis Pond Madison. Husband of 54 years of the late Lois (Green) Vargo. Mr. Vargo was born in Bridgeport on February 2, 1926, son of the late Joseph and Susan (Lincinsky) Vargo. He was the loving father of Gale Margonis of New Haven, the late Karen Haight of Milford, and the late Rev. Robert B. Vargo most recently of Madison, CT. He is survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased in childhood by his brothers Thomas, Edward and Joseph.
A patriotic American throughout his life, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. Bob had worked as a foreman at Sikorsky Aircraft, retiring after nearly forty years. He dedicated his life to providing a loving home and seeing to the well-being of his family. He enjoyed his years of membership on the Devon Revitalization Committee, which helped to provide for the modernization of downtown Devon.
Prior to his recent move, Bob was a faithful and devoted member of St. Ann Parish in Milford for over 50 years serving in several capacities, including as an usher and assisting with the counting of the weekly parish offerings.
Special recognition to dear friends Eileen Montgomery and Kathy and Frank Magnani, who were as family to him for the later decades of his life. He also enjoyed the company of fellow residents and tablemates at the Hearth in Madison.
Friends are invited to Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 26 at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy Street, Madison, CT.
Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Milford. There are no calling hours.
