Obituary courtesy of Guilford Funeral Home:

Robin Mary Elizabeth Shaw, 79, departed this world peacefully from Artis Senior Living, Branford CT. Born in Springfield MA, she and her brother were raised in South Hadley Massachusetts by their parents Marjorie Catherine Andrews Long and James Martin Long. Robin graduated from Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, MA, then attended Boston University for two years until marrying Gene Lemery, and raising three children in Killingworth CT.

Robin worked as a teacher’s aide for Killingworth Elementary School for 32 years before moving to Madison with her current husband Raymond Shaw.

She is survived by both husbands, her children Christine, Lisa and Jim. Robin will also be fondly remembered by her Grandsons David and Jared, her brother Jim and sister-in-law Nancy, niece Karen, nephew Jim and great niece Eliza.

Nothing made Robin’s soul sing more than watching a child learn and enjoy themselves doing it. Besides working with children, she enjoyed singing soprano in the Madison Congregational church choir, tending to her garden, and taking long walks on the beach. A staunch New Englander, Robin always kept a window open in her house, no matter the season.

While born Mary Elizabeth, she later changed her name to Robin, an endearing moniker bestowed upon her as a red-headed child that “ate like a bird”. May she now be free to fly anywhere she wishes.

Graveside Service is out of state and private. Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a future date. Please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Robin’s name; P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 https://www.alz.org/
