Read the Clinton Front Page from 147 Years Ago

Life has always been lovely in our shoreline community

Knowing our ancestry as a family, and our history as a town, is a great way to develop self confidence and a sense of direction. The Town of Clinton has a rich and noble past; from time to time, we will share some of the stories...both quaint and significant...with Patch readers.

Here is a copy of one of several newspapers that once served our town; this is the front page of the Clinton Advertiser in March of 1861. Show your kids. Note how simple life was, 147 years ago. We have been blessed by generous citizens since our town was founded. And we continue to find such folks all around us, volunteering on boards and commissions, working on nonprofit boards and churches, offering time to the schools. Clinton is loaded with capable People Power.
