Teens Tried To Rob Madison Woman At Gunpoint: Hamden Police

Police said two 13-year-old boys tried to rob a woman at gunpoint while she was putting items into her vehicle at a shopping plaza in Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — Two 13-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with a recent attempted armed robbery in Hamden. The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. June 10 in the parking lot at 2300 Dixwell Ave., according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said a 32-year-old Madison resident was putting items into her vehicle when she was approached by two teens who pointed a gun at her and demanded the keys to her vehicle.

The victim refused and contacted Hamden police. The teens left in a vehicle that that they had stolen earlier, according to Smith.

The juveniles, who were both 13 years old when the crime was committed, were arrested June 24, according to Smith.

They were both charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny. They are scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court at a later date.
