Vote for Madison's Hammonasset Beach State Park for 'Best Beach in America'

MADISON, CT - Love Hammonasset Beach State Park? Then vote for it in Coastal Living Magazine's inaugural "Best Beach in America 2016" contest.

Thirty beaches are entered in the bracket-style tournament, and Hammonasset Beach is up against Delaware's Rehoboth Beach in the first round.

First-round voting ends at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, and the eventual winner will be named on April 4.

"Thirty coastal states. One beach from every state," the magazine states. "Which one of these stunning stretches of shoreline will go from contender to winner in our first-ever Best Beach in America Bracket?"

Here is the magazine's schedule for voting for each round (all times Eastern):

• Round 1: March 11, 7 pm - March 17, 5 pm
• Round 2 (Sweet Sixteen): March 17, 7 pm - March 23, 5 pm
• Round 3 (Elite Eight): March 23, 7 pm - March 28, 5 pm
• Round 4 (Final Four): March 28, 7 pm - March 31, 5 pm
• Round 5 (Finals): March 31, 7 pm - April 3, midnight
• Winner Announced: April 4

"Not only does the winning beach earn the right to call itself Coastal Living's Best Beach in America 2016, it will be featured in the June 2016 issue of Coastal Living Magazine, as well as in a special online package," the magazine writes.
