Face Coverings
On Thursday the CDC announced that vaccinated individuals can largely go without face coverings outdoors and indoors. While the majority of our staff and a small portion of our student body is fully vaccinated, the district will continue to require face coverings be worn regardless of vaccination status while on school property or at a school-sponsored events for the remainder of this academic year.
Remote Learning 2021-2022
The State of CT Department of Education has shared with us that at this time they will not require school districts to offer remote learning next school year. Madison Public Schools therefore does not intend to offer remote learning for next school year. We know remote learning has been important to offer as an option this school year and we feel students have been successful on this platform however there is no replacement for in-person learning. We look forward to welcoming all students in-person for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
Reopening Plan 2021-2022
We anticipate receiving guidance from CDC and the State on how schools will operate next school year. We predict there will be further relaxation of precautions but are awaiting this guidance. One of the big unknowns is if students and staff will be required to wear masks next year. At this time we do not know what the guidance will be on mask wearing for students and staff. We will share any updates with the community as more information becomes available.
Vaccine Documentation
Vaccinations for students is a family decision. If you chose to vaccinate your student(s), we ask that you share that information with your school nurse. Proof of vaccination should be submitted to your medical provider to be added to the student’s official immunization record. Once that has been completed, the pediatrician can then forward the updated immunization record to our health offices. Knowing our students’ vaccination status allows us to quickly determine who is exempt from contact tracing and quarantining.
