Where & When Can You Get Your Popeyes Chicken Sandwich?

Popeyes chicken sandwich is back. No biggie.

MADISON, CT - The Popeyes in the Interstate 95 southbound service plaza doesn't answer its phone. We're not surprised. Probably kind of busy this Sunday. But you can swing by a few different Popeyes in New Haven, in North Haven, Milford, Orange, and Branford among other locations. So fret not.

Popeyes refers to it as 'The Sandwich.' We're not arguing.

But, why all the brouhaha?

The $3.99 sandwich is buttermilk-battered fried chicken breast, with mayo or spicy Cajun sauce, with pickles on a toasted brioche bun. Yeah. That's it. But it's pretty tasty, as was tried by a reporter in the interest of transparent reporting.

It's the chicken sandwich that people are going nuts over. Recall a few months ago when the sandwich debuted and, well, chaos when they ran out of sandwiches. Actual chaos. After two years of development, the chain launched the sandwich and then promptly sold out.

Mayhem.

Now, the fried chicken eatery in business since 1972 says it will never run out. That remains to be seen.

But in the meantime, people can even get the sandwiches delivered.

By the way, there's a Popeyes at 450 Foxon Boulevard near the border of New Haven and East Haven. There's a Popeyes in downtown New Haven on Whalley Avenue. And the drive-thru on those locations is open until midnight. On Sunday.

Or, hop on the website, plug in an address or a zip and get a list of all locations near you.

Here's a little Popeyes history from its website:

"Founded in 1972, Popeyes® has more than 40 years of history and culinary tradition. Popeyes® owes its beginnings to entrepreneur and culinary innovator, Al Copeland. With one small restaurant and a big idea, Copeland introduced the New Orleans–style fried chicken that has now made the brand famous throughout the world. Popeyes® culinary heritage is built upon the rich Cajun and creole flavor profiles that are unmistakably Louisiana. We continuously draw upon and celebrate this heritage to inspire new, authentic menu creations the world craves. Popeyes distinguishes itself with a unique New Orleans style menu featuring spicy chicken, chicken tenders, fried shrimp and other regional items. This unique and flavorful food has allowed Popeyes to become one of the world’s largest chicken quick service restaurants, with over 2,700 restaurants in the U.S. and around the world."
