Who Steals Donation Jars? Cops Hope People Can Help ID Suspect

The man is alleged to have taken two jars filled with cash donations for an animal rescue right off a package store counter.

MADISON, CT — The package store owner was stunned. Who steals donation jars?

"Nothing like this has ever happened," Francos Discount Wines owner Manny said. "I'm really upset about this."

Madison Police are hoping the community can help them identify a man who they say stole two donation jars off the store's counter. The owner said one jar was for a cat rescue and the other for a dog rescue. "Can't believe it," he said.

According to police, on Wednesday Nov. 20, the man went into the store and left with two jars filled with donations from customers.

Capt. Joseph Race said officers first tried to see if the man was known locally or on the radar and when they came up empty, took to Facebook to ask the community for help.

On its Facebook page, Madison police wrote they're trying to identify the man, who they said was driving a 2002 to 2006 Toyota Camry.
