15TH ANNUAL MAYOR’S BALL
Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Wadsworth Mansion
Middletown, CT – Mayor Benjamin D. Florsheim is pleased to announce that the 15th annual Mayor’s Ball will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown. The invitation is open to all members of the public and businesses.

This year’s ball will benefit Oddfellows Playhouse and New Horizons Domestic Violence Services (a division of the Community Health Center). Mayor Florsheim commented that “these two organizations, though seemingly different in their overall missions and day-to-day programming, are ultimately dedicated to the same basic principle: that all people deserve the right to live a full life on their own terms.

The Mayor’s Ball did not take place in 2020 due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. As the country begins to recover, this event will be an occasion to celebrate while supporting two important organizations that benefit our community.” Mayor Florsheim went on to state that “New
Horizons responds to the worst circumstances that people can find themselves in with the highest form of grace that people are capable of. During the many tragedies people have endured throughout the pandemic, there has also sadly been an uptick in domestic violence. It is vital that organizations like New Horizons continue to have the resources needed to provide the critical support they offer to people affected by domestic violence.

Oddfellows Playhouse is quintessentially Middletown. It is a place where art comes alive and infuses our community life with creative energy, good humor, and boundless joy. It offers all people, young and old, a sanctuary-- where they can be who they are today, and explore who they want to be tomorrow. As we continue to uncover the long-term scars formed during the pandemic, artistic endeavors can play a critical role in helping people heal emotionally, and help the community return to a sense of vitality and optimism. As Middletown and the world recover from a most unprecedented and tragic time, I hope the 15th annual Mayor’s Ball serves as a chance for the community to come together in celebration, remembering the importance of enjoying this precious life, while also reminding us all to do what we can to support our neighbors and those in need.”

The Mayor’s Ball will feature catering by the Aqua Turf, made-to-order donut sundaes by Blazing Fresh Donuts, and music for dancing by DJ Manny. Dress for the event is formal attire. Perceptions Photography will be onsite to capture images of the evening, which will be available for purchase after the event. Tickets for the Ball are $100 per person.
