1936 Remington Rand Strike Featured In Labor Video
Explores Labor Battles Past, Implications for Today
The 1936 Remington-Rand strike, which saw the devlopment of a strikebreaking plan that was used nationally, is the leadoff segment in a labor video produced by the Western Connecticut Area Labor Federation. Greater New Haven Labor History Association Communications Director Anson Smith talks about the birth of anti-labor, mass-media propaganda in the strike. The strategies and tactics developed there were used in the battle for the Taft-Hartley Act 11 years later, and many are still in use today.
