Annual Oscar Night at the Kate Goes Virtual with Party in a Box
The Kate will be offering custom boxes with gourmet treats & party favors in lieu of its traditional in-person Oscar night fundraiser.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT – Katharine Hepburn may have been nominated twelve times and continues to hold the record for Best Actress Oscars with four wins, but she never attended a ceremony to receive them. This year, given the Covid restrictions still in place, the Kate encourages everyone to ‘be like Kate’ by safely watching the Academy Awards from home and celebrating the occasion with the Kate’s Oscar Night Party in a Box.
The 93rd Academy Awards will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, April 25, 2021 and the Kate will be offering custom boxes filled with gourmet treats and party favors in lieu of its traditional in-person Oscar night fundraiser. Participants can order boxes, which serve up to two people, through April 19th and pick them up at the Kate during the afternoon of April 25th. Proceeds from the boxes, sponsorships, donations, and an online auction will support performances and arts education at the Kate.
Each Party in a Box contains items from several local businesses, including:
- Heat and eat gourmet appetizers from Pasta Vita
- Charcuterie box from Fromage Fine Foods and Coffee
- Chocolate bombs from Pursuit of Pastry
- Ingredients for a signature cocktail created by Penny Lane Pub
- Two Kate Oscar-branded stemless Prosecco flutes
- Movie Theater Popcorn tub to pop at home
- A gift card to Ashlawn Farm Coffee to caffeinate the morning after the Oscars
Box purchasers can also participate in an online Oscar ballot contest and view a virtual welcome message and video tutorial on mixing the signature cocktail. The Kate will post fun facts and movie trivia on social media during the Academy Awards broadcast. Presented by the Kate’s Volunteer Guild, the event is sponsored by Hamilton Point Investments, H&R Block Old Saybrook, Ashlawn Farm Coffee and Comcast.
