UPDATE: The accident scene has been cleared and the lane has reopened, according to state transportation officials.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A three-vehicle accident has closed one lane on Route 9 South at Exit 16 in Middletown, according to state transportation officials.

The left lane is closed.
