Fire Causes Considerable Damage To Historic Middletown House

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 2-alarm fire destroyed the garage and caused considerable damage to the main portion of an historic house on Laurel Grove Rd. early Saturday morning

At 2:50 a.m., emergency crews responded to the fire, and the first units to arrive found the garage fully involved, with fire also in the attic.

One man was able to escape the home without injury, fire officials told NBC Connecticut.

The home was built in the 1700s. Multiple roads were closed in the area as firefighters tackled the flames, according to WFSB-TV.

The Middletown and state fire marshal’s offices are investigating the cause of the blaze.
