The Greater Middletown Community Collaborative May's Meeting

Growing Fairness, by Teachers Unite

At our May meeting of the Greater Middletown Community Collaborative, we will be showing the documentary Growing Fairness, by Teachers Unite, followed by a discussion! Tuesday, May 4th 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Via Zoom.

As part of our on-going effort to promote restorative communities, Growing Fairness will provide us another to delve into the values of RJ work, and imagine what our systems can be if we focused on community/relationships as opposed to punishment/zero tolerance.

Words from Teachers Unite:
Growing Fairness is a short documentary film about “growing” restorative justice practices in public schools in New York City and Oakland, CA. Often, passionate educators lead these cultural shifts in schools. Growing Fairness examines the historical and political context for their resistance against the norm. It also shares the voices of youth who have seized the opportunity to lead, transforming their schools and themselves in the process. You can watch the trailer here!
