LOCATION: Palmer Field, Bernie O’Rourke Drive, Middletown, CT

This year will be the 11th year the Greater Middletown Military Museum will be holding the Norm Way Memorial Classic Baseball Game at Palmer Field to pay tribute to Norman R. Way and as a fund raiser for the Museum.
Norman Way was born on February 14, 1919, in Middlefield, Connecticut. Drafted into the Army in 1943, he did his basic training at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts, in April of 1943 and was then assigned to the 110th AAA (Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion) of the First Army. On Christmas Eve, 1943 he left New York City, for Scotland. On June 7th Norm landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. D-Day plus one. He went from Normandy, to Northern France and on August 25th 1944, was part of the force that liberated Paris. He continued on to the Rhineland and fought in what became known as the Battle of the Bulge. Norm was a Tech- 5 by the time he mustered out of the military.
Norm was past Commander of the American Legion Post 75, where he was administrator of the Soldiers, Sailors & Marines Fund for many years. He was a Charter Member and on the Board of Directors of The Greater Middletown Military Museum. He coached Little League and Ahern Whalen baseball.
On March 23, 2008, Norman R. Way, passed away. He was 89 years old.

GMMM Military Vehicle Show and Autos of the War Era Car Show

July 24, 2021 9am to 3pm

LOCATION: Show to be held on the grounds of the Museum, 200 Walnut Grove Road, Middletown, CT.

For Show Vehicles: This is an “invitation” Concours. We are encouraging military vehicle enthusiasts to apply to show your vehicle at our inaugural event. Please send an email request for application to show your vehicle. Email: GMVMM-INFO@COMCAST.NET or call 860-788-7215.

This is a beautiful treed setting in Veterans Park, adjacent to the Connecticut Trees of Honor and the Vietnam era Huey Helicopter.
The museum and its grounds are open and operating under State Coronavirus guidelines.
