The Kate’s Summer Camp Now Accepting Registrations
The Kate will host its Kate's Camp for Kids summer day camp from July 5 through August 6 in Old Saybrook.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT – With adherence to guidelines provided by the CDC and Connecticut’s Office of Early Childhood, the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (the Kate) will host its Kate’s Camp for Kids summer day camp from July 5 through August 6 in Old Saybrook. Five one-week sessions will be offered for children ages 5 to 10 with slight modifications, such as more outdoor time, but the camp will retain its imaginative arts-filled curriculum.
“We were grateful for the guidance and support we received to successfully operate the camp last year,” said Executive Director Brett Elliott. “We are looking forward to welcoming back participants with all of the same safety guidelines in place for 2021.” Up to thirty campers can participate each week and campers will be divided into three groups of ten. Each group will work with their counselors as a distinct unit during the week. Daily health screenings of staff and campers, no sharing of equipment or supplies, and regularly sanitizing facilities throughout the day will be the norm.
Kate’s Camp will continue to feature performing arts activities, including writing short stories and songs and learning choreography, as well as visual art projects. The camp weeks and themes are:

The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, which celebrated its 10th year in September 2019, is a non-profit performing arts organization located in an historic theatre/town hall on Main Street in Old Saybrook. Originally opened in 1911 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Center has been renovated with public funds from the Town of Old Saybrook and donations raised by the Trustees of the Center. It includes a 250-seat theatre and a small museum honoring Katharine Hepburn, Old Saybrook’s most celebrated resident.
