MIDDLETOWN, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont is considering housing migrant children at the former Connecticut Juvenile Training School in Middletown, according to multiple reports.
The Middletown Press first reported that Lamont, who visited the facility at 1225 River Rd. last week, is reviewing options to properly care for migrant children that could potentially travel to Connecticut.
The now-closed Connecticut Juvenile Training School was a controversial jail opened by former Gov. John G. Rowland in 2001 and closed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy in 2018, the Hartford Courant reported.
