Mercy and Xavier High Schools present CLUE
THE STAGE ADAPTION OF THE 1985 FILM HITS THE STAGE! Clue: On Stage Playing at Mercy High School in Middletown Nov. 15 and 16
Clue: On Stage presented by Mercy and Xavier High Schools is playing at Mercy High on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 at 7 pm. Based on the Paramount film and the Hasbro board game, the stage show is adapted from the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn with additional material by Hunter Foster, Sandy Rustin and Eric Price.
The show is described as a “murder-mystery comedy thriller.” Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu when their host turns up dead. Wadsworth, the butler, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Miss White and Professor Plum attempt to find the killer as the body count builds. Following in the footsteps of the film, the project bills itself as a “comedy whodunit.”
The show is directed by Ms. Tracy Costa from Xavier High School and Ms. Lorra Webb from Mercy. Webb explained how the entire student body is involved. “One week before the show, cast and/or crew members began giving a clue about this show during morning school announcements each day. The student that figures out the riddle and clue, finds a special envelope with prizes inside. I’m delighted that the enthusiasm of the cast and crew is carrying over to the entire student body. The cast and crew are absolutely an amazing group of students; not only are they talented, but this group works incredibly well together making Ms. Costa and my job as directors pleasurable."
