Middletown HS Dance Team On Their Way To State Championships
After taking home top honors at a competition this past weekend, the team is headed to the state championships.

MIDDLETOWN -- After winning first place at the Fairfield Warde Dance Jam Competition last weekend, the Middletown High School Dance Team is headed to the state championships. The team of 10 sophomore, junior and senior girls also took home third prize in the Jazz category.
At the Fairfield Warde competition on Feb. 9, the MHS girls competed against eight other teams in the Jazz category and 10 teams in hip-hop.
It's Coach Marisa Bishop's first year, and she said she couldn't be more proud of the team.

"I’m very excited to watch our team compete at States," Bishop said in an email. "With all of the changes we’ve faced this year; new coaches, new expectations, and a new team; the girls have responded extremely well. They have taken every change positively and worked extremely hard to get to where we are today."
With the state championship coming up fast, Bishop said it's important for the team to remain focused.

"We are very excited about our placement at the Fairfield Warde competition, however with States being a larger competition we have to keep pushing to be our best," she said. "I don’t doubt that the girls will once again have an amazing performance, and no matter the outcome I am so proud of how much this team has grown in the past season."
