Middletown Man Arrested in Connection With Haddam Home Burglary

More than $25,000 in jewelry and coins was reported missing in the June 2015 burglary.

Troopers from the Haddam Resident Trooper’s Office made an arrest in a Haddam burglary investigation from June 29, 2015.

On June 29, 2015, the Haddam Resident State Trooper’s Office responded to a complaint of a daytime burglary that occurred at a residence on Injun Hollow Road in the Haddam Neck section of Haddam.

Reported stolen during the burglary was more than $25,000 worth of gold and silver collector coins and jewelry. There was no one home at the time of the burglary and no injuries were reported, police said.

Through the course of the lengthy investigation, troopers identifed the suspect in the case and were able to recover some of the stolen items.

In August 2015 troopers applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for suspect Owen R. Nelson, by the Middletown Superior Court.

"Troopers made numerous attempts to locate Nelson however he continued to eluded capture,” police said. "On April 17, 2016, troopers located Nelson in Middletown and took him into custody."

He was transported to Troop F-Westbrook where he was processed and held on bond pending his court date.

Nelson, 34, of 43 Bidwell Terrace, Middletown, was arrested on the following charges:

  • Burglary in the third degree
  • Larceny in the first degree

He was issued an April 18 court date and a $100,000 bond.
