Obituary: Robert E. Mosebach Sr., ‘Mosey’, 72, Of Middletown

A Vietnam War veteran, Bob served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked EMS and when he retired, he enjoyed playing his music for others.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — (From Biega Funeral Home): Robert E. Mosebach Sr., “Mosey”, was called home Sunday July 4, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving wife Donna and children.

Bob was a Middletown resident for 23 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bob served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked EMS and when he retired, he enjoyed playing his music for others. He was born on February 11, 1949 in Jamaica, N.Y. He was the first born to Irene and Chester Mosebach. He, his brother Glenn, and sister, Annette, called Locust Valley, N.Y. home for many years. His best memories were the boys and girls club and he enjoyed the high-school reunions throughout the years.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard after high school. When he was aboard the SS Escanaba on March 27, 1971 he and others heroically took part in rescue efforts of the Texaco Oklahoma. While en route back to MA. He and his shipmates saved three fishermen and a dog from their drowning vessel. Robert was honorably discharged in 1972.

Once a civilian again he kindled a love with his longtime friend Donna Goodman. They wed in 1975. He was a man that loved his wife and three children. The biggest joy was when he became a papa to four grandchildren and a bonus grandchild. Robert is survived by his wife Donna Mosebach of Middletown CT. Also, his children and grandchildren. Robert Jr, Julie, and Judah Mosebach of NY. Michael and Danielle Mosebach of Middletown CT. Kelly, Peter, Charlie, Leonardo, Avery Emanuele. Austin Mosebach of Cromwell CT.

"Sometimes people come into your life for a moment, a day, or a life time. It matters not the time they spent with you but, how they impacted your life at that time."

Funeral services will be held Monday (July 12th) at 12 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial with military honors will be held at the State Veterans’ Cemetery, Middletown.
