Obituary: Sebastian Aresco, 88, of Middletown

Sebby, a dedicated family man, worked as a machine operator at the International Silver Company and as a boiler operator at A.N. Pierson.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Sebastian Aresco, 88, of Middletown, husband of the late Katherine (Coughlin) Aresco, died Thursday April 15, 2021 at Chestelm Health and Rehabilitation Center, Moodus after a brief illness.

He was born in Melilli, Sicily, the son of the late Luigi and Anna (Branciforte) Aresco. Upon arriving here Seb was drafted to serve his new country in the Korean conflict before even becoming a U.S. citizen.

He served with distinction achieving the rank of Private First Class in the U.S. Army. Sebby, as he was known to all, held various jobs throughout his long life.

He was a machine operator at the International Silver Company and a boiler operator at A.N. Pierson for many years.

Sebby was known to work multiple jobs at the same time and was no stranger to hard work. One of his lifelong passions was his multi-unit apartment building which he managed alongside his dear brother Benito Aresco.

He dedicated his life to his wife and three sons and will be missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Louis Aresco and his wife, Sandra of Old Saybrook, CT, Marc Aresco and his wife, Julie of Middletown, CT. and Eric Aresco and his wife, Maureen of Boynton Beach, FL; brothers, Benito Aresco of Middletown, CT. and John Aresco of Summerfield, FL; sisters, Lena Russo of Fort Lauderdale FL. and Maria “Mary” Piazzese of Tamarac, FL. Sebby is also survived by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his long-time companion and friend Josephine Schenarts. The family would like to thank the staff and administrators of Chestelm Health and Rehabilitation for their care and compassion during Sebby’s short stay at their facility.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (April 22nd) at 9:15 a.m. from Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Sebastian Church, Middletown. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Rockfall.

Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Those who wish, may send memorial contributions to St. Sebastian’s Church Renovation Fund, 155 Washington St. Middletown, CT. 06457.
