Today is a very special day in United States History. It marks the 75th Anniversary of the official end of World War II. On September 2, 1945, Japan signed the Instrument of Surrender aboard the USS Missouri. Over 16 Million American’s served in World War II and over 405 thousand of those died. We all owe our Freedom to these very brave men and women. Many who did not serve, contributed to the war effort by working in factories and helping on the Home Front. It was a nationwide effort for a common goal to bring Peace to the world.
Although those numbers are large, we remember that it was made up of individuals from every state and town. Each town sacrificed its citizens to death or injury. Today, the number of those who served is dwindling fast. There are only about 300 thousand still alive and they are aged 93 or greater.
Please take the time to thank any of them you may see. They are all precious to us. If you have a special World War II veteran that you know of, we would be proud to display their photo in our World War II Museum in East Hartford. Feel free to contact us and if you wish, make an appointment to tour the museum. Our hearts go out to each of them and they will never be forgotten: https://www.facebook.com/Iwo-J...
