MIDDLETOWN, CT — With rain in the forecast for Halloween on Thursday, Mayor Dan Drew is assuring residents that the holiday won’t be canceled or postponed in Middletown.

Drew, who said that he’s received several calls and emails about whether the city would cancel or postpone Halloween, posted the following on Facebook:

“I don’t think we actually have any authority to do so, but even if we did:

“It’s still on and parents can make their own decisions about whether they want to trick or treat. If you prefer staying dry, the Elks always has a great indoor trick-or-treat.
