Wesleyan Coach Investigated for Improper Relationship With Student at Enfield's Fermi High
Tyler Wells, who teaches social studies at Fermi High School in Enfield and is a part-time football running back coach at the Middletown university, has been placed on paid leave during the investigation.

A social studies teacher at Fermi High School in Enfield and a Wesleyan University assistant football coach has been suspended amidst allegations of an improper relationship with at least one female student.
The teacher has not been arrested or charged in the case.
"A high school teacher has been placed on leave indefinitely pending an investigation," Superintendent of Schools John Gallacher said earlier this month. Gallacher originally did not identify the individual or the school, but confirmed Monday the teacher is Tyler Wells.

Gallacher said Wells was placed on "paid administrative leave" beginning Friday, June 15. He referred all other questions to the .
Enfield Police Chief Carl Sferrazza acknowledged that an investigation is being conducted by the detective bureau into the allegations. He would not comment further.

A check with Enfield police Tuesday afternoon revealed that no charges have yet been filed.
The Wesleyan University Athletics website says "Wells was a new face among the Wesleyan part-time coaching staff for 2010 and rejoins the squad in 2011" and he began work toward a master of arts in liberal studies at Wesleyan in 2007.
