Woman, 2 Pets Killed In House Fire In Chester

Two other people were injured and firefighters were able to rescue several other pets, according to reports.

CHESTER, CT — An elderly woman and two pets were killed in a house fire in Chester on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

The fire happened around 9:30 a.m. on Ridge Road in Chester, according to WTNH News 8.

WTNH reports the victim was identified as Joan Carini, 76, who was the homeowner.

Two other people sustained minor injuries while escaping the fire, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC Connecticut reports one dog and one cat were killed in the fire, but firefighters were able to rescue several other pets.

A fire official told WTNH News 8 that hoarding was an issue at the home.
