$42k Telephone Scammers Caught: Monroe PD

The two men were having money from scams sent to a vacant address in Monroe, police said.

MONROE, CT — Two men were arrested after they were caught having more than $42,000 from telephone scams delivered to a vacant address in Monroe, according to police.

The scam involved contacting grandparents and telling the victims that their grandchildren had caused a fatal motor vehicle crash and that money was needed for legal fees, according to the Monroe Sun.

Henry Mercedes, 46, and Edward Miguel Rosario-Canela, 45, both of the Bronx, NY were arrested and charge with forgery, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and other charges.
