Barbara Rose Scott Deaso, of Monroe, Passed Away Peacefully

Mrs. Deaso, a longtime Monroe resident, worked as the secretary of a private detective and to the Chief of Police in Monroe.

MONROE, CT — Barbara Rose Scott Deaso of Monroe passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John T. (Jack) Deaso. Born in Stratford, Barbara was the daughter of the late William F. Scott Sr. and Catherine Bernard Scott.

Barbara graduated Stratford High School, class of 1949 with honors and went to work at the Welfare Department in Bridgeport. In 1952, Barbara married Jack Deaso and together with their fathers, built the house in Monroe which remained their home to this day. Barbara raised her family and in the early 70's returned to the work force as secretary to a private detective. In 1974, Barbara became secretary in the Detective Bureau at the Monroe Police Department. Two years later, Barbara was promoted to secretary to the Chief of Police in Monroe where she served for 27 years, retiring in 2003.

Left to cherish her memory is son: Scott (Lydia) Deaso of Colorado and daughters: Lois (Ken) D'Onofrio of Fairfield, and Norma (Guy) Uhran of Monroe, four grandchildren: Edward (Jessica) Deaso and John P. (Emily) Deaso, Apryl (Phillip) Reavis of Texas, and Luke Uhran of Monroe. Two great granddaughters: Ruby and Elizabeth Reavis of Texas. Barbara is also survived by her sister: Norma (George) Scott of Florida and several nieces and nephews, including Ronald (Nancy) Deaso Sr. of Monroe. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her brothers: William F. Scott Jr. and Raymond B. Scott Sr.

Barbara was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Monroe Fire Department an original member of COPSA (Chiel's of Police Secretaries Assoc.), Monroe Senior Center, and the Monroe Red Hat Ladies. A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, December 13th at 10:00 AM at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Turnpike Monroe. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet the family Monday, December 12th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
