Coronavirus Monroe: Town Reports First Confirmed Case
A person over 60-years-old was confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.

MONROE, CT — First Selectman Ken Kellogg announced Sunday night that the town had its first confirmed coronavirus case. An individual over 60-years-old was infected, KEllog said.
"While this is certainly concerning, it is not unexpected, and we should anticipate more confirmed cases in the coming days," Kellogg said. "These are challenging times, yet we must all continue to do our part to slow the spread of the virus. We will continue to post daily updates on case counts on our website."
Kellogg declared a local emergency now that there is confirmed local transmission of the virus in town.

Public parks and trails in town remain open, but town officials are asking everyone to practice good social distancing. Basketball courts and playgrounds have been closed in an effort to keep large groups from congregating.
Connecticut now has 327 confirmed coronavirus cases as of Sunday evening with eight deaths and around 51 hospitalizations. Fairfield County has 208 positive cases.
