Edith Wheeler Library Expands Hours, Begins Summer Program

The library will re-open for Wednesdays, beginning July 11.

MONROE, CT -- A year after Monroe officials cut back the hours of operation for the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, administrators have announced that the library is getting its Wednesdays back.

EWML will reopen its doors on Wednesdays, beginning July 11.

Beginning July 2, the library hours will be Monday and Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (beginning July 11, since the library is closed Wednesday, July 4); Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library will remain closed on Sundays during the summer, and reopen on Sundays in the fall.

EWMK will kick off its summer program, “Rockin’ & Chalkin’ It Up Summer Reading Kickoff” on Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m to 4 p.m., with a full slate of activities and events for young people and adults. An "Interactive Bollywood Dance Performance," presented by Devangi Dharani, the owner of Tinkle Toes Dance Academy, is scheduled fr 2:00 p.m.
