Monroe Public Schools wants to spend $458,000 in available funds to help pay the costs of school security and roof repair projects.
Gabriella DiBlasi, finance director for the school district, says the money would come from an estimated $296,000 in unspent funds from the 2012-13 operating budget — which would normally be returned to the town — and $162,000 from the Emergency Capital Projects Reserve account (on town books).
Supt. of Schools James Agostine wants to use $243,000 for security projects at Monroe and Fawn Hollow elementary schools, spend $175,500 toward the Stepney Elementary School cafeteria roof and $75,000 for emergency roof repairs at Masuk High School.
