Fawn Hollow Roof Funds Pass 99 to 5

A $1,585,000 bonding resolution for the re-roofing, mansard and soffit replacement at Fawn Hollow Elementary School was overwhelmingly approved by voters at a Town Meeting Tuesday night.

Though the Council Chambers at Monroe Town Hall was packed, residents declined to discuss the resolution before submitting votes by paper ballot.

The bonding resolution passed by a vote of 99 to 5.

The work at Fawn Hollow is the first project in Supt. of Schools James Agostine's plan to make repairs to every school building in the district.

"This is a great beginning," Agostine said after the vote. "We're excited to get this work done. This is a save-able roof that can be repaired at a decent cost."

As soon the Town Council approves a contract, Agostine said the work can begin.

If all goes to plan, Agostine said the project can start in the fall, then continue with good weather in the spring.
