'Fisher Cat' Climbs a House to Catch a Cat

A Maryanne Drive woman told police she saw a "fisher" cat climbing her house to get to her cat, who was sitting behind a second-floor window screen on July 25, then growl at her when she went to see what was going on.

This is the second time the fisher had been at the house within a 30-day period, according to the report.

"This is the first time I ever heard of an incident like this," Monroe Animal Control Officer Ed Risko said Thursday.

Risko said he researched fisher cat behavior online and found nothing like this, adding he is investigating to determine whether or not it's actually a fisher cat. Risko said the woman may have seen a tomcat.

A fisher cat is not actually a feline, rather it is in the weasel family. For more information on fisher cats, read this past Patch article: Here's What a Fisher Looks Like Up Close.
