Floor Collapsed During Monroe Fire, No Injuries Reported

Firefighters were almost injured when a floor partially collapsed during a condo fire.

MONROE, CT — Firefighters were nearly injured after a floor partially collapsed during a condo fire early Thursday.

The fire occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the High Meadows condos on Highland Drive., according to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started in an unoccupied unit that was under renovation.

Firefighters avoided injury after discovering that the main floor had partially collapsed into the basement.

Fire damaged was contained to the one unit, but adjoining units sustained some smoke damage.
