Police arrested a Monroe man for DUI after a Summit Drive resident reported hearing a loud crash outside his home at around 11:33 p.m. Sunday and seeing a blue vehicle leaving the area. Police say officers observed damage to the front lawn, mailbox and shrubbery ... and found a front bumper with a license plate on the grass.
Officers also observed a trail of fluid leading from the accident scene to a driveway on Chadwick Court, where a blue Chevy Malibu with heavy front-end damage and a missing front bumper was parked, according to the report.
A check on the plate determined the owner of the vehicle was Anthony Benedetto, 22, of Autumn Drive in Monroe and police said he was inside his friend's house on Chadwick Court, adding he admitted to striking a Real Estate sign.

Field sobriety tests determined Benedetto was under the influence, leading to his arrest, and breath tests at headquarters showed a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, according to police.
The homeowner on Summit Drive estimates the damage to his mailbox and post to be $200, along with $3,000 damage to his front lawn and shrubbery.
