How Many Monroe Residents Have Received The Vaccine So Far?

State health officials released data on how many residents have been vaccinated for the coronavirus.

MONROE, CT — A total of 1,641 Monroe residents have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine as of Feb. 1, according to new data from the state Department of Public Health.

About 8.5 percent of the town's approximate 19,434 residents have received at least one dose and around 39 percent of residents 75 or older have received a dose.

Around 12 percent of nearby Trumbull residents have received at least one dose. The figure increases to 47 percent for residents 75 and older.

People eligible for the vaccine include frontline healthcare workers, long-term care residents and staff and people 75 and older. State officials project that residents 65 and older will be eligible to make appointments in a couple of weeks.

Frontline essential workers and residents with health issues that place them at greater risk for coronavirus complications are projected to become eligible for appointments in early March, according to DPH projections.
